Born in 1940 in Kano, Nigeria, though a Ghanaian. Started school at St. Thomas Catholic School. Attended Hosi College, then proceeded to African Church Drama School. in 1967, he came to Takoradi (Western Region of Ghana) as a qualified journalist and went into Radio Television screen play and Cinema screen play.

In 1979, he returned to Nigeria and joined the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). He started acting after he joined the Ghana Film Industry and his first movie was "Market Place".
