The computer engineering graduate of Enugu State University of Technology (ESUT) who hails form Isochi in Abia State was born into a family of five. Her father is an Engineer and her mother a retired Banker (Union Bank).

Her journey to Nollywood started after she completed her secondary school education in 2000. Her first movie was titled "Alternative" which was directed by Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen. The movie "Not With My Daughter" directed by Andrew Nwakalo brought her to limelight while her most challenging movie was "Snake Girl". Maureen has featured in over 30 movies. Due to child birth, she was out of the industry for a while but is presently back.

She is married to Mr Okeke who is a Banker and they have three children.
